BBQ Teriyaki Chicken Wings with Onion Rings and Chips

What you need


  • Mash Direct Beer Battered Chips
  • Mash Direct Beer Battered Onion Rings
  • 20 chicken wings
  • Marinade:
  • 125ml soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Recipe method

In a small saucepan combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, water, garlic, ginger and cayenne pepper. Bring to the boil to dissolve the brown sugar.

Allow the marinade to cool to room temperature. Add the sesame oil and stir well.

Put the chicken wings in a large, resealable plastic bag and add the marinade. Press the air out of the bag and seal tightly. Marinade and refrigerate for 1 hour

Prepare the grill for indirect high heat. Remove the wings from the bag and reserve the marinade.

Pour the marinade into a small saucepan, bring to the boil over high heat and boil for one minute; remove from the heat.

Grill the chicken wings over medium / high heat, rotate the BBQ lid 1/4 turn and brush the wings every 10 mins with the lid closed in between. Cook until internal temperature of 75oC.

While the Chicken Wings are cooking, place the Beer Battered Chips and Onion Rings in foil trays and cook on the BBQ.

When cooked, remove the Chicken wings from the BBQ and sprinkle the wings with the sesame seeds.
