Christmas Eve Duck Bao Buns

What you need


  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • 300g Mash direct Shredded Duck and Five Spice Bites
  • 60ml teriyaki sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • The juice of 1 lime
  • 3 spring onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • A pinch of chilli flakes
  • 1 teaspoon cornflour, mixed to a paste with 1 tablespoon cold water
  • 8 Bao Buns
  • 1 little gem lettuce, finely shredded
  • 1/4 cucumber, cut in half and cut into thin batons
  • A handful of coriander leaves, roughly chopped

Recipe method

Cook the Duck Bites as per packet instructions,

For the sauce:

Pour teriyaki, honey and lime juice into a wok and bring to a boil, stirring continuously for a minute until the sauce thickens. Add spring onion, garlic, ginger and chilli and cook for 1 minute.

Cut the duck bites in half, add to the sauce and stir to coat.

To serve:

Steam or microwave the Bao Buns as per packet instructions

Fill the buns with lettuce and cucumber, top with duck, drizzle with sauce, sprinkle with coriander and serve.
