What your job is all about:

 

Creating and improving food products, which are safe and attractive to our customers, and suitable for large scale manufacturing without loss of quality and taste.

 

Who you are:

 

You will be someone with their eye on future developments and consumer trends. You will have a creative mindset and be passionate about creating innovative products.

You will have previous experience of developing recipes that can be developed using food manufacturing processes. Be detail orientated and able to identify and complete tasks without direct supervision.

You will also have excellent attention to detail, communication, reporting and presentation skills.

 

What you will be doing:

 

Your job will be varied and typical activities include:


Innovation

 

– Formulating new recipes and improving on existing recipes to ensure that Mash Direct has the best possible range that is designed to meet consumer needs.

– Recommending new products and working with colleagues in Sales, Technical and Production to transform food concepts into viable products within agreed timelines and quality standards.

– Liaising with suppliers to ensure that we are aware of new ingredients coming on to the market.

– Sourcing new ingredients.

– Work on continuous improvement projects around the quality of raw materials from suppliers e.g. vegetable quality to improve the overall quality of the product range.

– Conducting consumer testing and taste panels for proposed new products.

– Presenting new products to potential trade customers.

– Keeping up to date and summarising the latest developments in the food industry; new products, processes, food trends.


Compliance

 

– Ensuring that all necessary documentation is kept up to date to adhere to the latest BRC standards.

– Ensuring that potential new products can be manufactured profitability and meet food safety requirements.

– Training out new products to the Production Team as part of the handover from NPD to Production as well as creating and maintaining the training records.

– Liase with Technical Team for the HACCP requirements.

– Packaging – confirming the pack weight, shelf-ready packaging, boxing and pallet configuration of new products. Working in with the Procurement Team to achieve this.

– Managing customer expectations on allergens and ingredients where necessary.

– Working with Technical Team on Micro testing and shelf-life confirmation.

– Organoleptic Studies.

– Conducting Nutritionals on new products alongside the Technical Team.

– Drawing up product specifications and ensuring that pack copy is correct.

– Developing recipes in the kitchen and then transferring them into production by carrying out the necessary training.

– Complying and adhering to health and safety requirements at all times.

– Conducting ad-hoc product reviews to ensure that the production team is following the processes handed over from the NPD Team.
