Location: Comber

Reports to: Warehouse Manager

Contract Type: Full-time, Shift-based

Working Hours: 5 days per week (including weekends on a rota)

– Shift rota: 7am–5pm / 8am–6pm (later finish on occasion)

 


 

Role Summary

 

As a Despatch Operative in our fast-paced food production environment, you will be responsible for picking customer orders accurately, checking delivery sheets, maintaining records, supporting stock takes, and ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are upheld at all times. You will also help maintain the cold chain throughout the despatch process.

 


 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

 

– Pick and pack chilled or frozen food orders accurately and efficiently.

– Ensure products are within shelf-life, correctly labelled, and stored at the right temperatures.

– Load orders onto delivery vehicles carefully and in the correct order.

– Record and maintain accurate despatch records and documentation.

– Work closely with production teams to meet delivery schedules.

– Collaborate with technical teams on labelling, traceability, and food safety requirements.

– Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in line with food safety and BRC standards.

– Handle stock rotation (GIGO) and report any discrepancies to management.

– Adhere to all site Health & Safety policies, wearing correct PPE as required.

 


 

Essential Skills & Experience

 

– Previous experience in despatch, ideally within a food handling environment.

– Understanding of hygiene and food safety standards.

– High attention to detail, especially with food labelling and expiry dates.

– Good numeracy and literacy for reading and completing order forms and labels, and helping with stock takes.

– Reliable, punctual, and able to work efficiently as part of a team.

 


 

Training Provided

 

– Food Safety Level 2 certification.

– Manual handling.

– Product labelling.

– Working in chilled and frozen environments.

– Forklift license (preferred but not essential – training available).

 


 

Job Details

 

– Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

– Pay: £12.21 – £13.04 per hour

– Expected Hours: 40 – 48 per week

– Schedule: Day shift, Monday to Friday, with overtime and weekend availability
