Hallowe'en Horrors!

This half-term, round up your little monsters and create some frightful treats with us! 🧟

Another Halloween has managed to creep up on us and now the kids are off for half term, are you looking for some ideas to entertain the little ghosts and ghouls?

We’ve collected some ideas from our staff around the farm and created a list of fun activities for you and your kids to enjoy over this break:

Organise a contest – Whether it’s a traditional apple-bobbing, a lego-building competition or a conkers championship, a little bit of rivalry can add to the fun!

Have a treasure hunt – Hide things around the house or garden and give them a pirate map with clues and riddles to find the “treasure”.

Encourage green fingers – Autumn is a great time to plant bulbs like snowdrops, daffodils and crocus’ so that come spring, the garden is in bloom. Or get them to sweep up the fallen leaves and jump into the pile.

Autumn crafts – Get crafty! Collect items from your garden or local park, such as small rocks, pine cones, conkers or sticks and set them to work on autumn-themed paintings or collages.

Get outside – Dig out the coat and wellies, grab a camera or sketchbook, and head out into the woods or forest and have a little adventure exploring the local area, snapping or drawing what you see along the way.

Pick up a Pumpkin – Why not head to a local pumpkin patch, pick up a pumpkin to take home and carve out some terrifying faces to scare the neighbours.

Cook up some frightful dishes –  Create spooky-themed dishes such as mashed ghosts, Mini mummy cakes and many more! Be sure to check out our videos where our resident Witch and her cackling assistant created some frightful dishes for you to recreate at home. Don’t forget to share your creepy creations with us!

We’ve got lots of Halloween content coming out this week on Facebook and Instagram, and we’ll also be uploading some behind-the-scenes content on our TikTok, so be sure to follow us!

From Mash Direct, we would like to wish everyone a safe and a hauntingly Happy Hallowe’en!

Hallowe'en Horrors! (Part 1)

Our witch created some spooky ghosts with our Mashed Potato by cooking in the microwave for 3 minutes, then piping or moulding the mash to create ghost-shaped peaks before finishing off with some edible eyes to serve alongside a spooky meal. 👻

Next, we roasted our Carrot and Parsnip Fries then topped with red peppers cut into triangle shapes to make some freaky fingers!

Hallowe'en Horrors! (Part 2)

Keep an eye on all mini-monsters by placing some cheese in our tasty beer-battered onion rings and then chop some olives into halves to put them in the centre. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes and take a gooey bite of an oozy eyeball!

Lastly our wickedly wacky witch and her cackling assistant finished by creating some ‘Mash Pumpkins Pizza!’

Combining flour with our Bubble and Squeak and rolling it out to create a base, they added a blood-red tomato sauce, sprinkled some cheese on top, and cut up pepperoni for a terrifying pumpkin face! Cook in the oven for 15 minutes then tuck in!

Mad about mash.
