Maintenance Fitter

Due to continued growth, Mash Direct requires an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our engineering team.


The successful candidate will:

– Optimise production performance and quality while also minimising plant downtime

– Perform fault diagnosis to establish root cause of failure on mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems

– Perform preventative maintenance and repair activities on plant and equipment as per schedule

– Support the installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment

– Support the delivery of manufacturing, refurbishment and business improvement projects

– Fabricate and weld structures based on engineering drawings

– Ensure, as part of the engineering team, that a safe, clean and tidy working environment is maintained

– Comply with current workshop and site risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work

– Produce ‘Point of Work Risk Assessments’ whenever necessary to ensure all potential hazards involved with specific tasks are identified and reduced/removed

– Ensure that where required, all compliance documentation regarding the company Quality Management System


Essential Criteria:

– City & Guilds, BTEC or NVQ in a relevant Engineering Discipline

– Work with a flexible, well organised and logical approach to problem solving

– Have a willingness to learn and the ability to work as part of a team or unsupervised

– Be a good communicator, have good time management and a can-do attitude

– Basic IT skills

– Proven experience with:

+ Working with steam distribution systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, process control, pumps, drives, values and instrumentation

+ Fabrication and engineering equipment such as press brakes, drills, some machine tools and saws

+ MIG, STICK & TIG Welding

+ Proving and implementing fabrication processes and procedures

+ Interpreting Engineering Drawings

+ Meeting health & safety requirements


Desirable Requirements: 

– HND or HNC qualified in the appropriate fabrication engineering discipline

– Previous experience in the food manufacturing industry

– Counterbalance Forklift License

– Basic Hygiene Certification

– Electrical Knowledge
