What your job is all about:
Leading a fast-paced team environment to ensure that orders are processed and despatched safely and on time as well as managing the Despatch areas of Mash Direct.
What you will be doing:
Your job will be varied, and typical activities will include:
This includes but is not limited to identifying star performers in the Despatch Team and recruiting new team members when required. This also includes conducting inductions for new Team Members to get them up to speed as quickly as possible and managing the holidays/flexi days of the Team to ensure that there is adequate cover to achieve the expected standards and speed. You will also be responsible for the discipline of the Despatch Team.
Running the Weekly Despatch Team Meeting. This is to communicate the priorities to the Despatch Team, ensuring that everyone has the relevant information to perform their jobs to the best of their ability and reporting on the improvements made within the department.
Weekly attendance of the Management Team Meeting and contributions at these meetings to improve the business as a whole. You will be responsible for communicating with our hauliers to ensure that they are at Mash Direct and at the warehouses at the agreed times as well as, on occasion, communicating with customers if their expectations of delivery time need to change.
Ensuring that our OTIF level is kept above 99%.
Keeping the Despatch areas clean and tidy by designating Despatch Team members to clean. This also includes reporting untidiness created by other departments promptly so that these can be addressed, and the area can be kept tidy for hygiene as well as health and safety.
Requesting PPE for team where needed and maintaining the PPE standards set by the Technical Team. It is your role to ensure that the correct PPE is being worn.
Working with the Procurement Manager and Production Director to ensure that there is always an adequate supply of equipment to fulfil orders. This includes pallets, pallet wrap and any other materials that may be required.
Completing Despatch paperwork accurately and promptly.
Working with the goal of having no mispicks in Despatch and achieving over 99% On Time In Full every week.
Ensure that paperwork for the Technical Team is filled out on time and in full.
Making the Despatch area more efficient through process improvements, training and any other ways that you can think of. This also includes working with the Engineering Team and any members of Despatch Team with a maintenance function to reduce downtime and machine inefficiencies. This also includes ensuring that unauthorised absences are kept to a minimum as well an ensuring the correct use of clocking in and out by the Despatch Team.
Continuous improvement also means the reduction of waste within the Despatch area such as packaging and food waste.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Continuous improvement of Health and Safety. This means reporting hazards, near misses and accidents as well as arranging for the relevant training of the team to identify risks early and reducing the potential for incidents to occur.
The working hours will be typically based on 45 hours shift rota for full time, with the shift starting at 6am to line end, which could be between 2pm to 5pm Monday to Sunday.
